Information for Parents
Our statutory duty is to provide factual and unbiased Special Educational Needs and Disability information; advice and support to Parents/Carers, children and Young People aged 0-25. SENDIASS provides a free all year-round service on the full range of education, health and social care issues as defined in the 2015 Special Educational needs Code of Practice and the National IASP set of Quality Standards. Our goal is to provide a high quality, bespoke, impartial and confidential service to ensure that our service users are at the heart of decision-making processes and are fully informed of their options and rights that affect their lives.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – Here you’ll find information on what SEND is, what you can expect from nurseries, schools and colleges and Extra Support in Mainstream School.
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s) - Here you’ll find information on what an EHCP is, how to apply for an EHC Needs Assessment, the EHC process, how to appeal and more.
Social Care – this will provide you with information on the support available to you via Social Care, including the Disabled Children and Young Peoples Service (DCYP) and the Family and Adolescent Support Service (FaASS). You’ll also find information on the Carers Assessments and more.
Health Care – This will provide you with information on the services and provision for children and young people with SEND.
Benefit advice – You’ll find a list of services that can advise you on your entitlement and support with applications for benefits such as Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Universal Credit (UC), etc.
